The University of the Pacific's community is expressive.
Art is a natural extension of Pacific’s values and the real individuals that make up the student body and faculty. Evidenced by the architecture of the campus there are unique themes and beautiful structures maintained throughout its history. The brick exteriors framed by trees local to California are the familiar background to student life and the environment for burgeoning artists. This environment has created the rich history of the Powell Art Center, the diverse Knole’s Lawn and the spirit rocks.
Additional Notes
Whilst the documentary focuses on public student art to student engagement with the local community, the contribution of non-public student art must be considered. For example, the 2019 Calliope provides a more vivid example of student expression. The 2019 Calliope booklet contains artwork from the university of the pacific community accompanied by poems that matched the artwork promoting a themed message. The Calliope and its multiple editions are valuable to our documentary as they offer a catalog of thematic student artistic expressions.
